Short-term residence permit.
The most common residence type; but the document set and assessment approach change markedly depending on the purpose.
Purposes of application
Some of the purposes listed in the law are:
- Stay for tourism
- Owning residential property in Türkiye
- Business connections or setting up a business
- Scientific research, in-service training, exchange programmes
- Attending a Turkish language course
- Medical treatment (excluding diseases posing a public health threat)
- Post-graduation application by those who completed their studies in Türkiye
Durations
- As a rule, a short-term residence permit may be issued for up to two years at a time.
- There are special duration regimes, such as up to five years for investors and TRNC citizens, and a one-time maximum of one year for post-graduation applications.
Current practice notes
In tourist residence applications, supporting the purpose of stay with concrete documents, accommodation and financial means documents, and adequate insurance are decisive. Province- and neighbourhood-based density restrictions and address/registration procedures (such as a notarised rental contract) can change from time to time; so checking current practice before applying is essential. In our pre-assessment, this check is a standard step for your file.
Core documents
- Application form, passport and biometric photos
- Documents showing the purpose of stay (rental contract, title deed, invitation/business correspondence, course enrolment, etc.)
